Since 1987, our Centro Ricerche Cagiva in San Marino has been the most important motorcycle development centre in Italy, where among several other projects, the Grand Prix winning Cagiva 500 two stroke saw the light, as well as the Ducati 851 and 916, all the way up to the fabulous MV Agusta Brutale and F4.

Massimo Tamburini, who for more than thirteen years directed the research centre, played a major role in establishing the artistic fame of our products and was capable of spreading exceptional Italian design throughout the world. Refinement, attention to every last detail, functionality and performance have always been and continue to be the main ingredients for designing and developing motorcycles at CRC.

In January 2009, Claudio Castiglioni was appointed Director of CRC, President of MV Agusta and Head of product. The research centre in composed of approximately fifty people that create new products from initial design concept to complete industrialisation, while the design and development of Special Parts is taken care of directly in the company’s headquarters in Varese.
